Borax, baking soda and essential oils in a shaker jar. Sprinkle, wait, then vacuum; keep pets out until done.
What You’ll Need
1/2cupborax
1/2cupbaking soda
30dropsessential oils OR 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or cloves (e.g. 20 drops sweet orange oil + 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
Glass jar with lid
Directions
Put the borax and baking soda in the jar and mix.
Stir in the essential oils, or the cinnamon or cloves.
Notes
Sprinkle generously, leave 15-20 minutes (longer is better), and vacuum thoroughly. On light carpets skip ground spices (they can stain).Safety: borax isn't safe for pets to eat, keep pets out until vacuumed, ventilate, and consider leaving out scent in pet homes; cats are especially sensitive to oils and spices. (lavender the safest oil for cats; many vets advise no essential oils around cats at all.) Test on a hidden patch of carpet first.
