White vinegar, salt and dish soap mixed in a spray bottle to kill weeds on a sunny day. Keep off plants you want.
What You’ll Need
1gallonof white vinegar
1cupof salt (any kind)
1tablespoonof a liquid dish detergent that doesn't contain bleach
Plastic spray bottle (no water is added)
Directions
Stir the vinegar, salt, and dish detergent together.
Pour it into a plastic spray bottle.
On a calm, sunny day, spray the weeds directly and keep it away from plants you want to keep, using a concentrated stream to control where it lands.
Soak every surface of the weed; you can also pour more over the root area.
Spray again if the weeds grow back, since it does not always kill the roots. It can take up to a week.
Notes
Best confined to cracks in patios and paths.Safety: KILLS ANY PLANT IT TOUCHES, and the salt HARMS SOIL long-term; never use in garden beds, lawns, or near tree roots. Wear eye protection and gloves (vinegar can burn skin and severely injure eyes). Keep pets and kids off treated areas until dry, and label the bottle. Never mix with bleach products.
