Servings 2cups
Dish soap, cornstarch and water cooked into a thick paint, colored and used on the tub walls at bath time.
What You’ll Need
1cupdish soap
1/2cupcornstarch
1/2cupwater
Food coloring (or tempera or another water-based colorant)
Directions
In a saucepan, stir the cornstarch into the cold water until smooth and dissolved. Heat, stirring all the time, until it boils.
Stir in the soap. Heat on medium until it just begins to boil. It turns gel-like as it cools.
Mix in food coloring.
Store in an airtight container. It separates a little, so stir before each use.
Notes
Test on a small patch of tub first so the color doesn't stain.Safety: NOT edible. Adult does the stovetop step and lets it cool fully. Use a mild soap the child doesn't react to (scented hand soap; kids coat themselves in it). Keep out of eyes; soap makes the tub slippery. Never leave a young child alone in the bath.
