Flour, cocoa, sugar and leaveners layered in a jar for an egg-free, dairy-free chocolate cake. Whisk in oil, vinegar, vanilla and water to bake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar

Directions

  • Build the layers in the jar, tapping it on the counter as you go.
  • Cover the lid with a 9-inch fabric circle, secure it with a rubber band, and finish with a bow.

Notes

Whisk 3/4 cup vegetable oil, 2 tsp. vinegar, 1 tsp. vanilla and 2 cups water into the mix and bake at 350 F for 35 minutes. Frost or dust with powdered sugar. Egg-free and dairy-free.
