While the mixture is still liquid, fill the containers using an eyedropper or medicine dispenser (warm it again if it begins to set).
Leave to cool without moving.
Notes
Cook time about 10 minutes. Store cool (or in the fridge) since warmth melts it; it lasts at least 1 year, or 1 to 2 years in a cool, dry place. Don't use lemon, lime, or most citrus oils on lips because they are phototoxic (sweet orange is the exception), and don't use alcohol-based vanilla or mint extracts, which dry the lips. Substitutions: olive, sunflower, sweet almond, avocado or jojoba oil for coconut oil; candelilla wax for beeswax (vegan); mango or cocoa butter for shea. Vitamin E and rosemary extract slow rancidity but are not preservatives. Safety: hot wax burns; peppermint and cinnamon oils can irritate lips and are not for young children; keep essential oil use low on lips.
