1.5cupsBaking Soda
10dropsGrapefruit Essential Oil
10dropsLavender Essential Oil
1/2cupDiatomaceous Earth Food Grade
3Tablespoonsof dehydrated Lemon Peel (ground to dust in a blender)
Mason jar; metal canning lid and ring; nail and hammer
Directions
Mix the baking soda, ground lemon peel and diatomaceous earth together in a mixing bowl.
Pour into a regular-mouth mason jar.
Drop in the grapefruit and lavender essential oils.
Use a nail and hammer to punch plenty of holes in a metal canning lid.
Screw the lid and ring onto the jar.
Notes
Lightly sprinkle on the carpet, leave for half an hour, then vacuum.Safety: keep pets (especially cats) and kids out of the room until it is vacuumed, citrus and lavender oils are toxic to cats, and fine powders irritate lungs. Use only food-grade diatomaceous earth and avoid breathing the dust (it is drying to airways even though it harmless). Test on a hidden patch of carpet first. Label the jar not food.
