Baking soda, washing soda, salt and liquid castile soap. Scrub tubs and tile, then rinse.

What You’ll Need

1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup washing soda
1/4 cup salt
1/2 cup liquid castile soap
1/4 teaspoon tea tree essential oil
2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide (optional)
16 ounce glass jar with lid

Directions

Stir the baking soda, washing soda and salt together in a small bowl.
Slowly stir in the castile soap until it forms a fine paste.
Mix in the essential oil, and the peroxide if using.

Notes

Optional: first spray the tub with 50-50 vinegar and water to soften soap scum. Scoop a little onto a sponge and scrub; rinse well.

Safety: wear gloves (washing soda is caustic to skin); tea tree oil is toxic to pets; if adding peroxide, store in a vented or loosely capped jar out of light (it can build pressure). Test on fiberglass, acrylic and natural stone first. Label the jar.
