Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (30g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (45g) hot cocoa mix
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 tablespoon semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • mini marshmallows and hot fudge sauce for garnish

Equipment

  • mug
  • whisk

Directions

  1. In a large microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, cocoa mix, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the milk and oil and stir to a smooth batter, then mix in the chips.
  3. Microwave on high for 1 minute, until the center is set and a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Add 10-second intervals if it needs more time.
  4. Right away, cover with mini marshmallows and let the cake cool and set for 2-3 minutes. Add hot fudge and vanilla ice cream if you like.

Notes

Eat warm. Batter can be mixed, covered in the mug, and refrigerated 1-2 days before microwaving. Prep 5 minutes, cook 1 minute. Safety: raw flour; cook until set.
