Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce powder or crushed chicken bouillon + a pinch extra salt if needed
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional for a little kick

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • airtight jar

Directions

  1. Mix the ingredients together.

Notes

Dry rub: sprinkle generously on chicken, pork, or shrimp before cooking.
Quick teriyaki glaze: mix 2 tbsp of the seasoning with 2–3 tbsp water and 1 tsp cornstarch; simmer until glossy.
Stir-fry boost: toss 1–2 tsp into vegetables or noodles while they cook.
Storage: the dry mix holds up well on a pantry shelf. Give the jar a good shake before each use because the sugars settle.
