What You’ll Need

  • 4 oz. Clear Melt and Pour
  • 18 Lip Balm Tubes
  • Lip Balm Pouring Tray (optional)
  • 3 mL White Tea and Ginger Fragrance Oil
  • Red Orange, Canary, Emerald, and Brilliant Blue LabColor (small)
  • 99% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle
  • Small heat-safe containers a spoon, a dropper

Equipment

  • microwave-safe bowl

Directions

  1. Melt the soap in the microwave in short bursts (10-15 seconds). Stir in 3 mL fragrance oil. Place the tubes in the tray.
  2. Pour 0.6 oz melted soap into a small container, stir in 1 mL undiluted Red LabColor. Reheat in 2-second bursts if it stiffens. Pour into three tubes, then spray the tops with alcohol to pop bubbles.
  3. Do the same with 0.6 oz soap and 1 mL Orange, then yellow, green, and blue.
  4. For purple, stir 3 drops Brilliant Blue and 7 drops Red into the soap and pour into three tubes.
  5. Leave to cool and harden fully, about 30 minutes.

Notes

Test in an inconspicuous spot on the tub first.
Safety: NOT edible. Adult-only making: melted soap is hot and can burn, and isopropyl alcohol is flammable. For young or sensitive kids, consider leaving out the fragrance oil (skin irritation); use skin-safe soap colorants only, never wax crayons. Little pieces can break off; supervise toddlers.
