Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp salted butter
  • 2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
  • ⅛ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 medium banana ¼-inch slices
  • 2 Tbsp rum (OR 1 tsp rum/vanilla extract for alcohol-free)
  • Vanilla ice cream to serve

Equipment

  • skillet

Directions

  1. Measure everything before you start, since this cooks fast.
  2. Melt the butter in an 8-inch stainless steel or cast-iron skillet over medium-low heat.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon for about 30 seconds, until glossy.
  4. Add the banana slices and warm them in the syrup for 1 minute.
  5. Add the rum and simmer for about 30 seconds. If you are using extract instead, add that now.
  6. Spoon the warm bananas and sauce over ice cream.

Notes

Setting the rum on fire is optional and not needed here.
