Ingredients

Dry mix
  • 6 tablespoons chopped onion flakes
  • 4 tablespoons dried bacon bits
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 4 tablespoons cheddar cheese powder
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
To make the dip
  • 2 tablespoons dip mix
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Equipment

  • zip-top bags
  • airtight jar
  • mixing bowl

Directions

  1. Measure all the dry ingredients into a zip-top bag or airtight container, then close it and shake until evenly mixed. Before storing, make sure the onion flakes and bacon bits are spread throughout.
  2. To make the dip, stir together 2 tablespoons of dip mix, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, and 1/2 cup sour cream.
  3. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Chill the full 2 hours so the onion and bacon bits soften. Store the dry mix in a sealed bag or jar in a cool, dry place. Keep the prepared dip covered in the refrigerator until serving. Serving ideas: crackers, pretzels, tortilla chips, celery, bell pepper strips, toasted bread rounds; also a sandwich or wrap spread.
