Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • airtight jar

Directions

  1. Stir all the seasonings together in a small bowl until well blended. Spoon the blend into a clean glass spice jar or another airtight container, and label it with directions for use.
  2. To serve, spoon 1 tablespoon of the mix into a shallow bowl and pour plenty of olive oil over it. Leave to stand for 15 to 20 minutes so the dried herbs soften and flavor the oil.
  3. Serve with warm bread, such as sourdough or French bread.

Notes

Keep the dry mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry cupboard for up to about 6 months for best flavor. After adding olive oil, refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours and use within 3 to 4 days.
