What You’ll Need

  • A glass jar
  • Plastic wrap (or a lid) and a jar rim or rubber band
  • Apple cider vinegar: 1/4 cup or less
  • Liquid dish soap: a few drops

Equipment

  • mason jars

Directions

  1. Pour about 1/4 cup or less of apple cider vinegar into the jar.
  2. Add a few drops of dish soap, which keeps flies from escaping once they are in.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and poke small holes in it.
  4. Poke one larger hole in the middle so the flies can smell the vinegar and get inside.

Notes

Set near fruit bowls, compost bins, or drains. Refresh it when it is full or no longer working.
Safety: Keep away from toddlers and pets, who may tip or drink it. Not edible.
