White glue mixed with warm water and a borax solution into the classic stretchy gak. Adult help needed.
What You’ll Need
- 2 4 oz Bottles of Elmer’s Glue
- 1 tsp Borax
- Water (warm water to fill the empty glue bottles, plus 1/2 cup warm water for the borax)
- Plastic cup bowl
- Food coloring
Equipment
- mixing bowl
Directions
- Pour both bottles of glue into a bowl. Fill the empty bottles with warm water, shake, and pour that into the bowl too.
- Mix in food coloring and set aside.
- Stir 1 tsp borax into 1/2 cup warm water in the plastic cup until dissolved.
- Pour the borax water into the bowl of glue and stir. It turns stringy; keep mixing and squishing by hand for a few minutes until it becomes gelatinous.
- Let the kids play until it reaches a gooey consistency.
Notes
Store in a sealed container or zip-top bag. Lasts at least a couple of weeks but may start to smell. Sticks to carpet; don't leave it in a hot car.
Safety: NOT edible. Borax is toxic if swallowed. Adult measures and mixes the borax solution; kids around 10 and up can usually make it themselves. Not for toddlers or kids who mouth things; for little kids use the borax-free slime entry instead. Wash hands after play; borax can irritate sensitive skin.
