Baking soda and cornstarch with a few drops of lavender oil in a shaker jar. Brush it through a dog’s coat.
What You’ll Need
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 5 drops lavender essential oil
- Jar with a shaker lid (or tight-fitting lid); dog brush
Equipment
- mixing bowl
- mason jars
Directions
- Stir the baking soda, cornstarch and lavender oil together until thoroughly mixed.
- Keep in a container with a snug lid, such as a Mason jar.
Notes
Sprinkle generously over the coat, let it absorb 5 minutes (or as long as the dog tolerates), then brush until no powder shows. Repeat as needed. A shaker container (old Parmesan shaker, sugar shaker, or shaker lid on a Mason jar) makes it easier. Keeps up to one year.
Safety: dogs only — lavender and many essential oils are toxic to cats; leave the oil out for homes with cats or for sensitive dogs. Keep powder away from the eyes and nose and don’t let pets inhale clouds of it.
