  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 4 oz ground beef
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup canned diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 oz uncooked elbow macaroni

Equipment

  • skillet

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet with a lid over medium-high heat. Cook the onion and green pepper for about 3 minutes, until soft.
  2. Add the garlic and ground beef, season with the salt and pepper, and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking up the meat, until browned.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, water, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer, then turn the heat to low and cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the uncooked macaroni. Bring it back to a gentle boil, cover, and turn the heat to low. Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring 2 or 3 times, until the pasta is tender. Serve hot.
