Ingredients

  • Cooking spray or olive oil for packet
  • 1 salmon fillet (6 oz)
  • 1 tbsp salted butter softened
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp dried tarragon
  • ⅛ tsp kosher salt
  • 1–2 lemon slices

Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • mixing bowl

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F. Tear off a piece of foil or parchment big enough to wrap the fish and lightly oil the center.
  2. Set the salmon skin side down in the center. Mix the butter, garlic powder, tarragon, and salt and spread it over the fish. Lay the lemon slices on top.
  3. Fold the foil up and seal the edges tightly, leaving a little room inside for steam. Set the packet on a rimmed baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily and the thickest part reaches 145°F.
  5. Open the packet carefully, watching for steam, and let the fish rest for 5 minutes before serving.
