What You’ll Need

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 2 Tablespoons grapeseed oil
  • A few drops vitamin E oil
  • 1/4 cup ground coffee beans
  • 1/4 cup brown or white sugar

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • mason jars

Directions

  1. Melt the coconut oil in a glass container, either on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  2. When it is melted, or nearly so, stir in the vitamin E oil and grapeseed oil.
  3. Stir in the coffee grounds and sugar until blended. If the scrub is too dry, add a little more grapeseed oil. If it is too wet, add a little more sugar.
  4. Keep stirring until you no longer see lumps of coffee or sugar.
  5. Spoon into a jar or another container.

Notes

Apply, then wipe off gently with a towel; remove leftover sugar or oil with a damp washcloth. Don’t use it in the shower: coffee grounds don’t break down and can clog drains, and the coffee may stain towels. Keep in a cool, dark place, no longer than one to two weeks because of the coffee. It can burn slightly if left on the face a long time, so don’t leave it on sensitive skin. Safety: patch test; not for broken skin; oily floors are slippery.
