Citric acid pulsed with lemon essential oil. Run an empty hot cycle to clean the machine.
What You’ll Need
- 2 Cups citric acid
- 10-15 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
- Food processor; airtight container
Equipment

- airtight jar
Directions
- Put 2 cups citric acid in the food processor.
- Drop in about 10-15 drops lemon essential oil.
- Pulse a few times (5-10 seconds) until the oil is blended in.
- Keep airtight (jars with hinged lids make scooping easy).
Notes
Booster: 1 tablespoon per load, in the detergent cup or the bottom of the dishwasher. Cleaner: use it to clean all areas of the dishwasher, and remove and clean the filter.
Safety: citric acid irritates eyes and skin — gloves; label the jar (it looks like sugar) and keep it from kids and pets. Use a processor bowl you wash well afterward. Never combine with chlorine bleach products.
