Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes

Equipment

  • chef’s knife
  • baking sheet

Directions

  1. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, and cut away any sprouts or green spots.
  2. Slice lengthwise, no thinner than 1/4” (thicker slices are chewier but dry less fully and keep for less time).
  3. Lay the slices on dehydrator trays so none touch each other or the edges.
  4. Dry for about 14 hours, depending on your dehydrator. With no dehydrator, bake at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 hours.
  5. Let cool, then refrigerate.

Notes

Refrigerate up to 1 week, or freeze airtight up to 6 months. Safety: discard green or sprouted parts (solanine). Plain sweet potato only, no seasoning. Give in moderation; supervise chewing.
