  • Freeze-dried sweet corn about 1/2 cup
  • Freeze-dried chopped onion about 1/4 cup

  • Freeze-dried diced tomatoes about 1/4 cup
  • Thrive tomato powder 2 tablespoons
  • Chicken bouillon 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder 1 teaspoon

Equipment

  • mason jars
  • stockpot

Directions

  1. Put the ingredients into a quart jar in the order listed.
  2. Seal with one oxygen absorber or a FoodSaver jar attachment.

Notes

To cook: bring 8 cups water to a boil, add the jar's contents, and simmer 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips or cornbread. The jar keeps as long as its shortest-lasting ingredient; an oxygen absorber or vacuum sealing helps it keep longer. Safety: freeze-dried chicken can go rancid, so keep the jar cool and use it within its dates.
