Ingredients

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet) bagged separately and sealed with the mix

Equipment

  • zip-top bags
  • bread machine
  • mixing bowl

Directions

  1. Put the dry ingredients in a zip-style or vacuum seal bag and shake well to blend.
  2. Pack the chocolate chips in their own bag and seal that in with the mix.

Notes

Add at baking time: 4 tablespoons softened butter, 1 egg, 1 cup warm milk (about 80°F), 1/4 cup warm water (about 80°F), 1 package bread machine yeast. Optional: add 1/3 cup instant dry milk to the mix and use 1 1/4 cups total water at baking instead of the milk and water.
Put liquids, butter, and egg in the bread machine pan (or follow your machine’s order); add the dry mix on top; make a shallow well and add the yeast. 2-pound basic or sweet setting, with add-in signal if available. Add chocolate chips at the signal. Remove loaf promptly and cool on a rack.
Storage: dry mix airtight about 3 months. Loaf about 2 days at room temperature, 4 days refrigerated, 3 months frozen.
