Baking soda, citric acid, kaolin clay and eucalyptus oil. Dry them hard, then set one in the shower corner.
What You’ll Need
- 2 1/2 cups baking soda
- 1 1/4 cups citric acid powder
- 1/2 cup kaolin clay
- 2 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon eucalyptus essential oil
- .5 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
- 40 drops rosemary essential oil
- Mixing bowl whisk, silicone mold or ice cube tray
Equipment
- mixing bowl
- mason jars
Directions
- Whisk the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl until even and free of clumps.
- Pour in the water slowly, whisking all the while, so it spreads evenly.
- Add the essential oils and whisk once more.
- The mixture should look like wet sand and keep its shape when squeezed; if it is too dry, add a tiny bit more liquid.
- Press firmly into silicone molds or an ice cube tray.
- Leave at room temperature to dry and set for about 6 hours (or chill in the refrigerator to speed things up).
- Once completely dry and hard, release from the molds (tap or flex the mold if needed).
Notes
Place one in a corner of the shower where it gets wet but won’t be rinsed away. Bath bomb version: 3 3/4 cups baking soda, 2 cups citric acid, 3/4 cup Epsom salt or sea salt, 3 tablespoon coconut oil melted, 30 drops eucalyptus, 15 drops tea tree, 15 drops cypress essential oil; add to a filled tub and let dissolve before getting in. Store airtight in a cool, dry place; good for several months to a year; discard if appearance, scent or texture changes. Patch test the dissolved product for sensitive skin; coconut oil leaves the floor slick. Safety: this is a strong essential oil load for the shower air, not for skin; eucalyptus, peppermint and rosemary are not for babies, young children, pets (especially cats) or use in pregnancy without advice; keep dry; not for internal use.
