What You’ll Need

  • 3 Tbsp organic unrefined coconut oil
  • 4 Tbsp organic refined shea butter
  • 2 Tbsp kukui nut oil
  • 5 drops organic rosemary essential oil
  • 6 drops organic bergamot mint essential oil
  • Double boiler hand mixer or blender, sterilized airtight container

Equipment

  • double boiler
  • hand mixer

Directions

  1. Melt the coconut oil and shea butter in a double boiler over low heat, stirring from time to time. Take off the heat.
  2. Stir in the kukui nut oil and essential oils.
  3. Chill until solid.
  4. Whip with a hand mixer or blender until it looks like frosting.
  5. Rest for a few minutes, then spoon into a sterilized airtight container.

Notes

Smooth onto damp skin and shave. Lasts 3-4 weeks in a cool, dry area; refrigerating extends it. Take out only what you need with clean dry fingers or a spoon. Safety: patch test; not on cuts or irritated skin; oils make the shower floor and razor rinse water slippery, and can build up in drains; rosemary oil is best avoided in pregnancy; kukui is a nut oil.
