What You’ll Need

  • 1/2 cup shea nut oil
  • 1/2 cup mango butter
  • 2 TBSP organic pomegranate seed oil
  • 1/2 oz Sandalwood Aroma Oil Blend or 50 drops organic sandalwood essential oil for a stronger scent
  • 1 tsp non-GMO vitamin E oil
  • Double boiler (such as a Pyrex measuring bowl over simmering water) hand-held mixer, containers

Equipment

  • double boiler
  • hand mixer

Directions

  1. Place the shea nut oil, mango butter, and pomegranate seed oil in the top of the double boiler.
  2. Heat over medium, stirring until everything has melted together with no lumps.
  3. Switch off the heat and stir in the aroma oil or essential oil and the vitamin E oil.
  4. Chill until it begins to thicken, about 20 to 40 minutes.
  5. Whip with a hand mixer until it reaches the texture you want (if it is too early and the butter is runny, chill it again and try once more).
  6. Spoon into containers, or pipe it in from a plastic bag with one corner snipped off.

Notes

Safety: patch test; not for broken skin; use a clean dry spoon; sandalwood is an expensive oil, so the aroma-oil blend is the alternative.
