Ingredients

  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup raw pecans chopped
  • ¼ cup unsweetened coconut shredded or flaked
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon oil (grapeseed or coconut work well)
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon powdered milk

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • baking sheet
  • zip-top bags

Directions

At home
  1. Heat the oven to 325 (F).
  2. Stir everything together except the powdered milk.
  3. Spread it fairly close together on a lined baking sheet (about 1/3 of the sheet) so it forms clusters.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through without stirring, until golden.
  5. Let cool completely and break into small clusters. Divide between two bags; add 1 tablespoon powdered milk to each.
On the trail
  1. Add about 1/3 cup (3 oz) water to a bag, stir, and eat.
