Ingredients

  • ½ cup instant potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon powdered milk
  • 1 cup dried stuffing
  • 2 tablespoons dried cranberries
  • 1 oz packet turkey gravy mix
  • 7 oz pouch pre-cooked chicken

Equipment

  • zip-top bags
  • saucepan

Directions

At home
  1. Measure the instant potatoes and powdered milk into one bag.
  2. Measure the stuffing and cranberries into a second bag.
  3. Pack both bags together with the gravy packet and chicken pouch.
On the trail
  1. Bring 2 cups water to a boil.
  2. In one bowl, stir the potatoes into 1 cup boiling water; in a second bowl, stir the stuffing into ½ cup boiling water. Let them soak for a few minutes.
  3. Stir the gravy packet into the remaining ½ cup water in the pot; add the chicken and warm over low heat until heated through.
  4. Divide between bowls and spoon the chicken and gravy over the top.

Notes

Plain instant potatoes work (omit milk with flavored ones); any packaged stuffing works. Freeze-dried chicken is an untested option: add more water and cook with the gravy until rehydrated. Contains dairy and wheat.
