Microwave steam cleaner
Be the first to rate it
Vinegar and water heated in a glass cup. Steam loosens the mess so it wipes right off.
What You’ll Need
- One cup white vinegar
- One cup warm water
- Glass measuring cup or microwave-safe bowl; wooden spoon or skewer; microfiber cloth
- Without vinegar: a couple of ounces of water, 3-5 drops lemon essential oil (or lemon juice), spray bottle, sponge
Equipment
- microwave-safe bowl
Directions
- Put the vinegar and warm water in a microwave-safe bowl with a wooden spoon standing in it (this helps stop it boiling over).
- Microwave for 5-10 minutes, depending on the power of your microwave.
- Take the bowl out carefully with an oven mitt.
- Wipe the door and the inside; the steam loosens any spills.
- No-vinegar method: place a soaked sponge inside, spray the interior with the water and lemon oil, microwave for about 2 minutes, keep the door closed for a few minutes to cool, then wipe with the sponge.
Notes
Optional: buff the outside with a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner.
Safety: remove the bowl with an oven mitt; let the sponge cool before handling. Superheated liquid can erupt, keep the wooden spoon in and stand back when opening the door. Never microwave a dry sponge or one with metal fibers.
