What You’ll Need

  • Elite pint Mason jar
  • Coarse Morton Kosher Salt (Diamond Crystal also suggested)
  • Miniature figurines (little chickens) or toy cars
  • Miniature chicken feeder and waterer (chicken version)
  • Bottle brush trees
  • Bakers twine
  • Festive fabric scrap
  • Miniature jingle bells

Equipment

  • mason jars
  • hot glue gun

Directions

  1. Pour Kosher salt into the pint Mason jar.
  2. Set figurines or toy cars in the salt however you like.
  3. Chicken version: nestle the miniature chickens, feeder and waterer, and bottle brush trees into the salt.
  4. Vintage truck/station wagon version: snip the base off one bottle brush tree and tie it to the back of the car with bakers twine, then set the car in the salt with one or two more bottle brush trees.
  5. Cut festive fabric to cover the jar lid and hold it in place between the lid and the ring.
  6. Tie a few miniature jingle bells around the lip of the jar with bakers twine.

Notes

This version doesn’t travel well because nothing is glued down. Small figurines and bells are choking hazards for small children.
