Mason jars brushed with decoupage glue and rolled in Epsom salt and glitter for a frosty look, tied with greenery and twine.
What You’ll Need
- 1 Mason jar(s)
- Mod podge
- 1/3 cup Epsom salt
- 1/2 teaspoon White glitter
- Spray sealer
- Christmas greenery (branches and berries)
- Twine
- Equipment: bowl, spoon, baking tray, foam brush, scissors, glue gun
Equipment
- mason jars
- paintbrush
Directions
- Set out all your materials and supplies.
- Combine the Epsom salt and white glitter in a bowl. Use the foam brush to coat the outside of the jar with a thin layer of Mod Podge, keeping the neck bare. Work over a baking tray or newsprint, and spoon the salt mixture over the Mod Podge as you turn the jar. When the bowl is almost empty, tip what remains onto the jar. Tap the jar bottom as you rotate it to knock off any loose salt and glitter. Stand it upright and let it dry for at least 1 hour.
- (Optional) Go outdoors or into a well-ventilated space and spray a thin coat of sealer over the faux snow. Leave it for at least 20 minutes before you handle the jar.
- Hot glue two sprigs of greenery together, then glue berries onto the bundle. Hot glue the greenery around the neck of the jar. Wind twine around the neck and tie a bow over the greenery and berries.
Notes
Times: active 15 minutes, drying 1 hour 20 minutes, total 1 hour 35 minutes. Use as a luminary (an LED tea light is the safer choice). Spray sealer outdoors.
