Be the first to rate it
A dry coating mix of corn flake crumbs, wheat germ, sesame seeds and pantry spices. Shake chicken or pork in it for a crunchy coating, and keep the extra mix for later.
Ingredients
- 3 cups corn flake crumbs
- 1 cup wheat germ
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- 4 teaspoons dried parsley crushed
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Equipment
- zip-top bags
Directions
- Put all the ingredients in a 1-gallon zip-top bag, close it, and shake until evenly spread.
- Optional: gently crush any large cereal flakes between your hands.
- To use, put 3/4 to 1 cup of the mix in a large zip-top bag, add the chicken or pork, close it, and shake to coat.
Notes
3/4 to 1 cup mix per use. Store the dry mix airtight in a cool, dry place up to about 6 months; for the best quality keep it in the refrigerator or freezer, since wheat germ and sesame seeds can go rancid at room temperature. Don’t return leftover coating that touched raw meat to the master batch. Refrigerate cooked meat within 2 hours; use within 3 to 4 days.
