What You’ll Need

  • 12 oz. white (Kaolin) clay
  • 6 oz. organic arrowroot powder
  • 4 tsp. organic marshmallow root powder
  • 4 tsp. organic comfrey root powder
  • 2 Tbsp. organic myrrh gum powder (leave out for an everyday body powder)
  • Optional: up to 10 drops organic lavender essential oil, or organic lavandin, rose, or helichrysum hydrosol

Equipment

  • fine sieve
  • mixing bowl
  • airtight jar

Directions

  1. Sift the clay and arrowroot together, then stir well.
  2. Add the dry herb powders and stir thoroughly.
  3. If you are using an oil or hydrosol, add it one drop at a time, mixing well between drops so it doesn’t clump.
  4. Keep in a sealed container in a dry spot.

Notes

Keep sealed and dry. A shaker jar or puff works for applying. This is an adult body powder: loose powders can be inhaled, and pediatric guidance discourages powder near babies’ faces. Safety: avoid breathing the dust; not on broken skin (comfrey is best kept off open skin and avoided in pregnancy); keep from pets; hydrosols add water, so add only a few drops and let it dry fully.
