What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups epsom salts
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup dead sea salt (optional)
  • 30 drops of lavender essential oil (optional)
  • 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • 2 Tablespoons oil of choice (coconut, almond, jojoba, argan, etc)

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • mason jars

Directions

  1. Stir everything together in a medium bowl (add the oil to the salt first, since oil and water don’t mix).
  2. Keep in an air-tight jar.

Notes

Use 1/4 cup per bath. Baking soda baths are about a once-a-week thing; don't use salt baths on open wounds; use only skin-safe essential oils. Keep water out of the jar. Safety: patch test; peppermint oil is not for babies, young children or pets; oil makes the tub slippery. For plain lavender, leave out the peppermint. Essential oils on plain salt can float on the bath and touch skin undiluted: mix the oils into 1.5 tablespoons liquid castile soap and add that to the running water separately.
