Baking soda, citric acid, orange zest and essential oils. Drop one in the bowl, let it fizz, then scrub.
What You’ll Need
- 1½ cups baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- 1 orange zested (optional)
- 25 drops orange essential oil or lemon essential oil
- 24 drops lavender essential oil
- 1-2 tsp. water
- Silicone mold (the solid half of a ball ice cube mold); fine mist spray bottle (optional)
Equipment
- mixing bowl
Directions
- Mix the baking soda, citric acid and orange zest in a large bowl.
- Add the essential oils and stir well.
- Work in the water ½ tsp at a time (a fine mister works best), mixing with your fingers, until the mix sticks together when squeezed but is only just damp.
- Press it firmly into the mold, pushing out all the air.
- Leave to dry overnight, pop out carefully, and keep airtight.
Notes
Drop 1 to 2 fizzies into the bowl, let fizz 5 minutes, swish with a toilet brush, and flush.
Safety: they look like candy or bath bombs — label clearly (toilet cleaner, not for bath or eating), store high and closed, away from kids and pets. Citric acid irritates eyes and skin; wear gloves. Don’t use with bleach toilet cleaners in the bowl.
