Baking soda, citric acid, tea tree and eucalyptus oils. Sprinkle in the bowl, let it fizz and scrub.
What You’ll Need
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup citric acid (or 1/4 cup borax for septic systems — won’t fizz)
- 10 drops tea tree essential oil
- 10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- Lidded jar
Equipment
- mason jars
Directions
- Put the baking soda in a bowl.
- Add the oils, pressing out clumps with the back of a spoon and mixing evenly.
- Stir in the citric acid.
- Spoon into a jar with a lid.
Notes
Add 1 to 2 tablespoons to the bowl, let fizz, scrub and flush (soak 10 to 15 minutes for a deeper clean). Keep covered; stir apart if it clumps. Citric acid may not suit septic systems; use the borax version there.
Safety: tea tree and eucalyptus oils are toxic to pets; keep the jar closed, labeled and out of reach. Never use with bleach toilet cleaners (acid + bleach makes chlorine gas). Gloves for borax and citric acid.
