What You’ll Need

  • Wide-mouth jars Mason or other
  • 18-gauge wire (about 18 inches per jar, depending on jar size)
  • Scissors
  • Sea glass or small stones
  • LED flickering tea light candle
  • Small glass votive holder
  • Pencil

Equipment

  • mason jars
  • scissors

Directions

  1. Stand a small glass votive holder in the middle of a wide-mouth jar (pick jars wide enough for most of your hand to fit inside).
  2. Arrange sea glass or stones around the holder, keeping it in the center.
  3. Put a flickering LED tea light in the holder (switch it off when not in use to save the battery).
  4. Wind the wire twice around the top of the jar, just under the lip (about 18 inches, adjusted to the jar size).
  5. On the right side, tie a knot with the shorter loose end, leaving about 3 inches of wire hanging off to the side.
  6. Twist the shorter loose end around the longer end several times.
  7. On the left side of the jar, pass the longer end under both wires to form a handle.
  8. Do step 7 again on the left side, leaving about 3 inches of wire free; snip it if it is too long.
  9. Coil the straight loose ends of the handle around a pencil to make a curl on each side.

Notes

If using a real flame outdoors, never leave unattended and hang away from branches and fabric.
