Peanut butter layer
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3½ cups powdered sugar
Chocolate layer
  • 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (1/2 of a 14 ounce can)
  • 1½ cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Equipment

  • microwave-safe bowl
  • 9-inch square pan
  • chef’s knife

Directions

  1. Microwave the peanut butter, butter, and vanilla in a glass bowl for 90 seconds, then stir until smooth. Gradually stir in the powdered sugar, about a cup at a time. Press into a greased or parchment-lined 8-9 inch pan.
  2. Microwave the condensed milk, chocolate chips, and 2 tablespoons butter for 90 seconds (add 15 more seconds if needed). Stir until smooth and pour over the peanut butter layer.
  3. Let cool on the counter for at least 4 hours, or chill in the refrigerator. Slice into bite-size pieces.

Notes

Stovetop option: warm the peanut butter, butter, and vanilla over medium-low until smooth, then off heat stir in the powdered sugar; melt the chocolate layer in a bowl over simmering water. Store airtight in the refrigerator up to a week. Contains peanuts.
