Ingredients

Gift set
  • About 30 oz un-popped popcorn kernels
  • One 32 oz Mason jar for the kernels
  • Three 6 to 8 oz jars with lids
  • Twine string or ribbon
Nacho cheese seasoning
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
Cinnamon vanilla sugar seasoning
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp powdered French vanilla coffee creamer
Garlic Parmesan seasoning
  • 1/2 cup powdered (shelf-stable shaker) Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • mason jars
  • food processor

Directions

  1. For the nacho cheese seasoning, pulse everything in a food processor 2 or 3 times and spoon it into one of the small jars.
  2. For the cinnamon vanilla sugar, stir everything together and spoon it into the second jar.
  3. For the garlic Parmesan, stir everything together and spoon it into the third jar.
  4. Fill the large Mason jar with popcorn kernels.
  5. Tie ribbon or twine around the jars and add gift tags.

Notes

To pop on the stove, heat 3 tablespoons oil and 1/2 cup kernels in a large covered pot over medium-high heat, shaking now and then, until the popping slows to a few seconds apart. Toss the hot popcorn with a little melted butter, then sprinkle on the seasoning. Use shelf-stable shaker Parmesan, not fresh shredded cheese, so the gift keeps at room temperature. Popcorn is a choking hazard for children under 4.
