Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup Instant white rice
  • 1/2 cup Thrive ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Thrive green bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup Thrive red bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup Thrive chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup Thrive mushroom pieces
  • 1 Tbs italian seasoning blend
  • 1/2 cup Thrive tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup Thrive cheddar cheese rehydrated
  • 1/2 cup Thrive monterey jack cheese rehydrated

Equipment

  • mason jars
  • zip-top bags
  • saucepan

Directions

  1. Fill the jar starting with the powders, pressing down after each addition to make room.
  2. The cheese is optional: put it in its own small baggy on top, after placing the oxygen absorber in first. Or sprinkle the cheese on after cooking.
  3. Put on the lid.

Notes

To cook: bring 4 cups water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove the oxygen absorber and the cheese baggy, then add the jar contents. Simmer until thickened and the rice is cooked; add up to an extra 1/2 cup water if needed. For regular rice, use a rice cooker instead.
Safety: freeze-dried beef and cheese can go rancid.
