Before you start: quick rules

← All stains

Food

Barbecue sauce

Flush it from the back, and alternate detergent with vinegar.

  1. Try this first

Cold water from the back, then detergent and vinegar

Working from the back of the stain, flush it with cold water. Apply liquid laundry detergent and work it in with an up-and-down motion with a soft brush. Rinse well, sponge with white vinegar and rinse again. Repeat the detergent and vinegar until as much of the stain as possible is gone.

Test any stain remover on a hidden seam or hem first, and check the care label.

  2. Then try

Pre-wash remover, then a safe bleach

Pretreat with a pre-wash stain remover and launder with a bleach that is safe for the fabric.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
