Mashed potatoes

Mashed potatoes is a vegetable stain, so rinse it from the back with cool water first.

  1. Try this first

    Vinegar soak, then rubbing alcohol

Soak for 15 minutes in 1 quart warm water with 1/2 teaspoon liquid dish detergent and 1 tablespoon white vinegar. Rinse with water. Sponge with rubbing alcohol and wash.

Rubbing alcohol can take dye out of fabric. Test a hidden spot first.

  2. Then try

Oxygen bleach soak, then a pre-wash remover

Soak 30 minutes in 1 quart warm water with 1 tablespoon oxygen bleach. Apply a pre-wash spot and stain remover and launder with heavy-duty detergent and oxygen bleach.

Test any stain remover on a hidden seam or hem first, and check the care label.
