Tree sap and pine pitch

Grease dissolves sap: rub it with something oily, then wash the grease out.

  1. Try this first

Rubbing alcohol, shortening or petroleum jelly

Dampen a cloth with rubbing alcohol, vegetable shortening or petroleum jelly. Rub the spots (or only blot if the fabric is very delicate). Wipe off with a paper towel, then wash the remaining grease out with soap and water.

Test any stain remover on a hidden seam or hem first, and check the care label.

  2. Then try

    Vodka

Apply vodka to the sap stain, then launder as usual.

  3. Then try

    Turpentine, as a last try

If any sap is left, use turpentine, then wash with soap and water.

Turpentine is flammable. Use it in a well-ventilated room, away from flames, and keep it off your skin.
