Spills on wood floors and furniture

Wipe it up at once, and keep moisture from sitting on the wood.

  1. Try this first

    Wipe, rinse and polish

Wipe up the spill right away with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water. Rinse with a clear damp cloth, wipe dry and polish or wax as soon as you can. This works for soft drinks, wine and most food spills.

Soft drinks and other spills can damage wood finishes if they are not removed quickly. Test any cleaner in an out-of-the-way spot.

  2. Then try

Suds only (coffee, tea, ketchup, mustard, fruit)

Mix dish detergent into hot water and swish it into a big volume of suds. Dip a cloth into only the foam and apply it to the stain. Rinse with a clean cloth dampened with clear water and wipe dry right away, then polish or wax as usual.

Work quickly but carefully, and do not let moisture stay on the wood.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
