Candle wax

Scrape off the extra first, then lift the rest with heat and paper towels.

  1. Try this first

Scrape, then blot with an iron

Scrape off the extra wax with a dull knife. Put the stained fabric between white paper towels and press with a warm iron from the back of the fabric, moving to a clean part of the towel as it soaks up the wax.

  2. Then try

    Waterless hand cleaner, then detergent

Sponge what is left with a waterless hand cleaner and rinse. Apply detergent to the stain and wash in hot water, using chlorine bleach only if the fabric can take it.

Test any stain remover on a hidden seam or hem first, and check the care label.

  3. Then try

If a dye stain is left

Sponge it with rubbing alcohol mixed with 2 parts water, then rinse with water.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
