Oily road splash on pants and coats

Road water is dirt plus a little oil and fuel. Soak, then wash with a detergent for greasy soil.

  1. Try this first

    Soak, then wash

If the fabric can take warm water, soak the splashed area up to 30 minutes in warm water with liquid laundry detergent, then wash as the label says with a detergent made for oily soil.

  2. Then try

    Still there?

Rub liquid detergent into the mark, leave it about 20 minutes and wash again before drying.

If the splash smells of fuel, do not put the clothes in the dryer: see Gasoline and diesel on clothes.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
