Spills on sofas and upholstered chairs

Blot it up fast, and do not soak the cushion.

  1. Try this first

Detergent, then vinegar, then detergent again

Blot up the liquid quickly. Mix 1 teaspoon of neutral detergent (no alkalies or bleach) in 1 cup of lukewarm water, apply with a clean white cloth and blot. Do not rub hard or soak. Then blot with 1/3 cup of white vinegar mixed with 2/3 cup of water, and repeat with the detergent. Sponge with clear water and let it dry as fast as you can.

Too much water can leave a ring (the fabric finish moves). Do not take the cushion out of its cover. Dilute vinegar to 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water on cotton or linen.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
