Stains on tile grout

Grout is porous. Use a paste, give it time, and scrub with a stiff brush.

  1. Try this first

    Baking soda paste

Spread a thick paste of baking soda and water on the grout, wait 15 minutes and scrub with a stiff brush or old toothbrush. Rinse.

  2. Then try

Peroxide for dark or moldy spots

Mix baking soda with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide into a paste, leave on for an hour, scrub and rinse. Keep the room ventilated.

Do not use vinegar on grout around natural stone tile. Never mix cleaners, especially bleach with vinegar or ammonia. Sealing grout once it is clean keeps stains away.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
