Blood

Always use cool water on blood, because hot water can set the stain.

  1. Try this first

    Witch hazel soak

Soak just the stained area in witch hazel for about 30 minutes, then rinse in cool water and wash as usual.

  2. Then try

    Cornstarch paste

Make a paste with cornstarch and water and apply it to the blood stain. Let it dry, scrape off the paste and launder as usual.

  3. Then try

Cold water for fresh, enzymes for dried

For a fresh stain, soak in cold water and launder: hot water sets it. For a dried stain, pretreat or soak in warm water with an enzyme product, then launder. If a stain is left, rewash with a bleach that is safe for the fabric.

Check the care label and test a hidden spot first. Do not put the item in the dryer until the stain is gone.
