Wet leaf stains on concrete and patios

The brown is tannin from wet leaves. Sweep them off sooner next time.

  1. Try this first

    Sweep, then scrub

Sweep off the leaves, wet the stain and scrub with a stiff brush and warm water with a little dish soap. Rinse with a hose.

  2. Then try

    For stubborn marks

Scrub with oxygen bleach, about 2 to 3 tablespoons of laundry oxygen bleach per gallon of water, or an outdoor cleaner mixed as its label says. Leave it a few minutes, scrub with a stiff brush and rinse well. A pressure washer on a low setting also helps.

Test a hidden spot. Use oxygen bleach, not chlorine bleach, which harms plants and lawns. Never mix cleaners, and check whether your concrete is sealed first.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
